Job shadowing elements in complex career orientation at schools

Workshop leader

Krisztina Gyenes-Zsivkovits, graduated from Szeged University in 2002 as a teacher of Hungarian Grammar and Literature.

She works as executive director of the “Talentum Foundation for the Support of Volunteering”, contributes to the elaboration of training courses and also works as trainer.

Between 2015 and 2017 she mainly focused on managing a complex career orientation programme.

In this programme she invented a new element in career orientation: the job shadowing.

As part of this programme, the project called “Follow the Expert!” continues even today after some changes.

Goal of the workshop

Sharing the method of job shadowing in career orientation process.

Description of the workshop

The workshop presents the complex job shadowing method, starting with the original plans, through the realization and then, the method is discussed in an international context.

The participant is asked to analyse the adaptability of the method in their own countries, considering the local specialties and the common elements.

The workshop interactively describes a tested career orientation method, considering the personal and professional experience and dilemmas of the participants.
